Does anyone have problems with new Opel/Vauxhall Astra 1.6 easytronic transmission?
when in automatic transmission, it changes gears very slowly, almost stops and starts over again. i never had this problem with other automatic cars before. all the other cars ive driven have changed gears much more smoothly.
Thanx Malcolm. Ive heard that easytronic is based not on the automatic transmission but on the manual one, with just additional automatic option. i started using the brake whenever i guess that the car is changing gears, it kind of smoothes the process, but of course its still very annoying. in addition i think that 1.6 engine is very weak, as my previous car was 2.0. i guess ill start changing my astra soon too. thanx for the answer!
Hi. To say I have problems with the easytronic transmission on my Astra 1.6i SLX is an understatement. Like you I find it changes extremely slowly at times, especially in low ratio and in town traffic. At times I feel like I am kangarooing along the road instead of driving. I have had it back in the garage where I bought it but according to them the results on the management systems say it is set up perfectly well. I asked them to go into rush hour traffic with it and tell me how enjoyable an experience it was but they declined. I have driven all sorts of cars with automatic boxes from BMW high performance with triptronic to the smallest runarounds and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it is not only the worst I have experienced but the first that I consider dangerous. I have lost track of how many times I have pulled out of junctions for the power to drop as it changes gear and leaves me wondering if I am about to be written off. Needless to say I am currently in the process of changing the car and having to accept a huge loss on what I paid for the priviledge. Hope you manage to get yours sorted but I do not hold out a great deal of hope for you. Cheers Malcolm
