Engine Management Light Flashing?
Hi last week i bought an Opel Astra was a private sale so no come back.
Now sometimes when i start it the Engine Management Light is flashing. If i turn the car off and start it again the light is gone. Most of the time the Light is not on.
The Light only seems to come on when its cold in the morning and at night.
The car seems to be driving perfect.
One important point was the car was idle for 6 months was barely used before i bought it. And i am getting it fully service tonight. My friend is doing the service and he has the equipment to read the fault code.
Should i be worried about the Engine Light i have being told probably only something small?
Just really worried as cant afford to have much going wrong with this car.
It has an intermittent fault.
The fault code will be stored in the ECU and that is an easy way to find out what it is.
If not fixed intermittent faults will turn into permanent ones – usually.
Whether you can afford it or not there is a fault that really needs to be sorted from the engine trouble code. Does not sound like anything major but then again parts prices can be stupidly high if it is something you have to get from a Vx dealer to sort it.
It is even possible that the car needs a software upgrade which only the Vx garage will be able to do
